ELARC 316 ELC electrodes are designed for the welding of type 316L chromium - nickel steel in applications where the carbon content must be held to a maximum of 0.04%. The electrode deposits 2% - 3% molybdenum. This is used to increase the corrosion resistance of the weld to a form of attack known as pitting, which is induced by such corrosive media as sulphuric and sulphurous acids, sulphites, chloride and cellulose solutions. ELARC 316 ELC can also be used to weld type 318 steels.
